Ele build against destroyers
Hi there,
I like to play with my ele again, but what kind of build is very effective against the destroyers, because of their inmunnity for burning, so SF doesn't work well....
Earth, air, water, fire (alternative build from SF).... pls if you have some advise, post it here.
tnx.
Mr Jorgen

Yes, it takes a small mental adjustment to switch from a pure damage dealer to a primarily defensive character. While I cannot check the already posted template right now, I would personally bring something like:
E/Me Air Conditioner
14 (12+1+1) Air Magic
11 (10+1) Energy Storage
9 (8+1) Earth Magic
Alkar's Alchemic Acid (only against Destroyers, otherwise take Shell Shock)
Blinding Surge
Enervating Charge
Epidemic
Ward Against Melee
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Air Attunement
Resurrection Signet
and let the high DPS characters do the hard work

It's a water spiker build. Pretty good dps and slows down destroyers like mad.

[skill]shatterstone[/skill]Glowing Ice[skill]blurred vision[/skill][skill]freezing gust[/skill][skill]ice spikes[/skill](or snow storm depending on your dwarven title)[skill]glyph of lesser energy[/skill][skill]water attunement[/skill][skill]death pact signet[/skill]
12+1+3 water
12+1 energy storage
This pwns them pretty well if you're in the mood for water spiking
destroyer are 80% resistant to fire and are immune to burning so if you only have fire you need someone in the party to have [skill]winter[/skill]
they are also 50% earth resistant so if you're going earth only splash 8 attrib points for defense wards

What a coincidence, I just wanted to start a thread about a build I just made because I felt elemental magic in general wasnt effective against the detsroyers, even with cracked armour which I infliced on them via [skill]shell shock[/skill] , which is a great skill in its own right.
Anyway, I came up with this build to use in my H/H group
Illusion magic 12, rest in Energy Storage
[skill]conjure nightmare[/skill][skill]conjure phantasm[/skill][skill]images of remorse[/skill][skill]accumulated pain[/skill][skill]clumsiness[/skill][skill]ether prism[/skill][skill]aura of restoration[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
the template code is : OgVCEMzzW7DM44grgwKtAjD
Once your energy drops to about 60 use [skill]ether prism[/skill] to return to full energy. Skills have low recharge so you can spam them to your heart's content.
If someone had suggested it sometime, my apologies.

Either run:
-A Mind Blaster powering out Blinds, Wards and PvE Skills
-A Blindbot with B.Surge that can apply Blind and weakness on demand, as well as cracked armor (AAA, Shell shock)
-A Water Elementalist with Blurred Vision, possibly some snares. As for elite take your pick of Shatterstone or Ward Against Harm.

Destroyers have HEV and Shatter Hex, but no Monks. Conditions are a whole lot better than hexes against them.
Think Air with BSurge, Enervating, and Shell Shock if it's a character new to EotN; if you've worked your titles up, consider an energy elite to power your PvE skills. That's about as good as you're going to do, Elementalists suck against Destroyers.

At some point, excessive hexing will just overpower what hex removal they have available. I also don't remember any Mesmers in that mission, although I could be wrong.
Hexes will still negate and cause more damage than your party will (Hopefully) be taking from Hex Eater Vorter or Shatter Hex.

Let them use their hex eater vortex, the only thing that will be damaged thereby are Olias's bone minions, and you know what? they have Death Nova on them

If Mesmers can use Eles for their "fast casting hokus pokus" so can we take other classes.

You'd be able to do more with air magic with some nice PvE skills tossed in there since the blinds and weaknesses provide nice defense that frees up some slots from other characters hopefully.
